Rishi Kapoor calls for inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in IPL

Sharmeen Obaid also took to Twitter to commend Kapoor’s sentiments

Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter on Sunday to call for the inclusion of Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Think. If commentators and coaches can be from Pakistan in IPL, why not their cricketers?,” Kapoor tweeted.

To support his statement, Kapoor added that Pakistani actor Fawad Khan was much loved in India. "And then Fawad Khan, also Pakistani, was loved in K&S."

The Kapoor and Sons actor also gently reprimanded a Twitter user who accused the IPL of being the "most corrupt league in the world" saying, "Think of making bridges, not walls!"



Two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid also took to Twitter to commend Kapoor’s thoughts, saying the actor’s sentiments of peace were the need of the hour.

“Please ignore comments from both sides- sentiments of peace you espouse is the need of the hour- How many generations will fight?” she tweeted.

When Rishi Kapoor visited Pakistan

Last year, Kapoor had expressed joy at the revival of cricket in Pakistan with the Zimbabwe team touring the country. "Good to see excitement and smiles at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore. Whosoever wins not important. You have won hearts defeating terrorists!"
