MULTAN: As many as 100 deserving families in Sahiwal were handed Rs50,000 each on Sunday under Jahaiz (dowry) Fund set up by members of the civil society and business community. MNA Syed Imran Shah supervised the disbursement. The beneficiaries were selected by a panel headed by Suhail Ansari, former Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry president. “The credit for this welfare activity goes to the fund managers. We made sure that the activity was free of any political intervention,” MNA Shah told The Express Tribune. Ansari said the organisers were now considering launching an Umrah fund for those who could not afford to perform the ritual.
