Women to get motorbikes in August

The minister said recipients of the motorbikes would be picked through balloting

Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheedud Din said on Thursday that the project for distribution of motorbikes for women was being finalised.


She was addressing a meeting presided over by Minister for Finance Ayesha Ghaus Pasha. Parliamentary Secretary Nawaz Chauhan, MPA Madiha Rana and Transport Secretary Shaukat Bhatti were also present. The meeting reviewed the project in detail. It was informed that a pilot would be launched in August.  The minister said recipients of the motorbikes would be picked through balloting. She said the programme would be expanded to other districts under the Transport Department. She said an automatic complaint routing system was also being evolved for this purpose.

Sustainable Economic Empowerment Programme

Minister for Zakat and Usher Malik Nadeem Kamran said on Friday under the Sustainable Economic Empowerment Programme, Rs40,753,500 was being distributed among the needy in six districts of the province.

He was presiding over a meeting. Kamran said that government was determined to permanently rehabilitate the beneficiaries.
