Crossfire: Constable shot dead in Nowshera

He was shot dead in a police encounter in Bara Banda late Wednesday night

Constable Taqiullah, 34, popularly known as ‘Kaki Khan’ in Nowshera was buried in his ancestral graveyard at Azakhel Bala with official honours on Thursday. He was shot dead in a police encounter in Bara Banda late Wednesday night.


Talking to The Express Tribune, policeman Turk Ali Shah said, “Taqiullah was famous for his kindness and humility; the entire district is grieving.”


Taqiullah and his squad members from the car-lifting cell were on duty at near Risalpur when they signalled a car to stop. The driver drove off and in the subsequent chase, gunshots were fired from both sides. Car thief Komandan, a resident of Logar, Afghanistan living in Nowshera, died on spot while Ayaz was arrested. Taqiullah, shot in the chest, was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera and later shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar but he succumbed to his injuries.


Taqiullah has left behind a wife and two children.
