Pk-8 by-election: Nomination papers’ scrutiny completed

The seat fell vacant after PML-N MPA Akbar Hayat Khan passed away

PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan has completed the scrutiny of nomination papers for the by-elections for PK-8, Peshawar-VIII seat on May 12. At least 37 candidates have filed nomination papers. According to insiders, the documents of five candidates have been rejected. In addition, a Qaumi Watan Party candidate has withdrawn his nomination in favour of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate. Insiders privy to the development said PTI is also trying to persuade the JI candidate to withdraw in PTI’s favour. Five independent candidates have withdrawn their papers and will not be contesting for the seat. The seat fell vacant after PML-N MPA Akbar Hayat Khan passed away.
