IP gas pipeline: Pakistan should resolve issues, work positively

Iranian Consul General said the volume of trade between Iran and Pakistan did not match their respective potential

The Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is the priority of the Iran government and Pakistan should also positively work to resolve issues associated with the subject, said Iranian Consul General Muhammad Bani Asadi.

While speaking at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), he said the trade policy would be revised during the proposed visit of Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to Iran.

“The business communities of both countries would have to increase interaction to share their experiences in the larger interest of the people of the two countries,” he said.

He said the volume of trade between Iran and Pakistan did not match their respective potential; therefore, the chambers of commerce in both countries would have to focus on the expansion of trade by holding single country exhibitions and exchange of trade delegations. “The dissemination of sector-specific and trade-related information would go a long way in achieving this,” he said.
