UoE Bank Road Campus hosts seminar on literary trends in Pakistan

LAHORE: Literature and linguistics of a country are an important source of its national identity, University of Education (UoE) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam said on Monday.

He was addressing a seminar titled: Trends in Literature and Linguistics in Pakistan, held at the UoE, Bank Road Campus, in collaboration with the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC).

PHEC Human Resource Department Director Mussa Hassan was the guest of honour.

Dr Rauf said that the objective of the seminar was to raise awareness among students about the latest trends, approaches and related concepts of literature and linguistics. “Pakistani literature and linguistics have unique features and characteristics. They are a mirror of our society in which all the shades of social life can be seen,” he said.

Punjab University English Department Chairperson Dr Amara Raza and Dr M Islam discussed literary trends in Pakistan. They explained various approaches and parameters about literature and linguistics. Hassan praised the UoE administration for arranging the seminar and stressed the need for such activities at educational institutions. UoE Bank Road Campus Principal Samina Naheed was also present.
