Illegal business: 10 arrested in joint operation in Kohat

PESHAWAR:
At least 10 people were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against owners of illegal hawala and hundi businesses in Kohat. According to a press release issued on Thursday, the operation was carried out on the directives of the apex committee to discourage the undocumented dispatch and receipt of finances in the province. During the operation, seven hundi outlets were raided in Kohat. FIA confiscated cash worth Rs3 million along with incriminating evidence such as written and fax receipts, multiple cheque books, list of customers and recipients, mobile phones and laptops. Cases have been registered against the accused.
