The folk singers representing all provinces received appreciation from visitors at Lok Mela which has entered its 6th day on Wednesday.


Folk music programmes was arranged at the Mela where singers from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan performed amid ovation.

In her comments, Executive Director, Lok Virsa, Dr Fouzia Saeed said aim of all provinces musical programme was to bring them on one platform to perform.  She stressed that folk music was recognition of the country and folksingers were its asset.

A large number of people from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have visited the ‘Lok Mela’ on its 6th day.

The visitors also enjoyed buying traditional items including garments, other edible and non-edibles from stalls.

The annual folk festival (Lok Mela) presents a true cultural identity of all provinces and regions including Gilgit-Baltistan.

Visiting the festival grounds, one can see that a unique combination of cultural heritage of all federating units has been impressively presented in a professional manner.
