BAHAWALPUR:

The army has managed to keep terrorism at bay in the country and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is the nation’s best hope to save Pakistan, PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen said on Tuesday. He was speaking to journalists at PTI’s Syed Tehseen Nawaz Gardezi’s house in Bahawalpur.

Regardless of how powerful the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz gets, the nation will not continue to suffer at their hands anymore, he said. “Their smokescreens and tricks will not fool us.”

PTI to launch countrywide protest

Tareen said PTI’s intra-party elections have proved that it is truly a democratic political party. He said during their election in NA-154, Syed Tehseen Nawaz Gardezi, Shehla Ehsan and Nausheen Qureshi among others had campaigned as if they were contesting elections themselves. “I thank them for their support.”

Tareen said Bahawalpur was like a second home to him. “I will try my best to bring prosperity and development to Bahawalpur and Lodhran.”

On Monday, Tareen welcomed Sheikh Ghulam Yaseen, formerly of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, to the PTI. Yaseen had announced the switch to PTI when Tareen arrived at Dera Bhakka. Tareen visited Yaseen’s cotton ginning factory where he was warmly welcomed.

Tareen said he was an agriculturalist and knew exactly how badly the PML-N had let farmers down.

“When farmers in south Punjab harvest their crops, there’s no one to purchase the crop…our region is treated as a stepchild.”
