First single from ‘Quetta’ released
Murtaza Chaudhry’s directorial to hit theatres in second half of 2016
KARACHI:
Production seems to be running smoothly for Murtaza Chaudhry’s cinematic directorial debut, Quetta – The City of Forgotten Dreams. Having previewed the first trailer for the movie a few months ago, the producers shared the first single from the film on Saturday. Girya, a Persian track, has been crooned by Coke Studio backing vocalist Momin Durrani. Talking to The Express Tribune, Chaudhry revealed the single is part of the three-track soundtrack, with the remaining songs expected to release in the next few days.
“Girya is the first track and then we have two additional tracks. One of them is being done by a local musician named Atif whereas a musical group will be working on the third song,” disclosed the comedian-turned-director. Although Chaudhry does not have a particular date in mind, he is aiming to release the film in the second half of 2016. “We intend on screening the movie at the Calgary Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff) in Canada, after which we will release it in Pakistan.”
During a recent interview, the cinematographer Rana Kamran revealed how the entire film was shot in natural light. Having recently wrapped up production on Quetta, the film has moved on to its post-production stage.
Coke Studio: 6 producers. 1 show. Will it work?
Penned by Faysal Chaudhry, Quetta unravels the journey of three individuals of different age groups who have diverse experiences and aspirations – ranging from coalmining to football. However, what brings them together is their ability to keep both, the inner flame and the stove burning.
