Rawalpindi police round up seminary teacher for alleged child rape

RAWALPINDI: Police have arrested a seminary teacher for allegedly raping a nine-year-old boy along with two other men in Rawalpindi.

Civil Lines police have arrested Qari Umar, the suspect, on the complaint of the victim’s father. Two other suspects, Raja Latif and Suhail Majeed, have obtained pre-arrest bail from a magistrate.

The incident took place at a religious seminary in Sherzaman Colony on March 29.

Eight-year-old raped in Peshawar

Vctim’s father* told the police that his son* was enrolled at the seminary but left it after six months. He said on March 29, Latif lied to his son that his father, the complainant, was waiting for him at the seminary.

He said the three suspects subjected his son to sexual abuse inside the seminary when he went there. Police arrested the cleric during a raid.
