PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court issued a contempt of court notice on Monday to the chairperson of the Khyber Teaching Hospital board of governors. The notice was issued for failing to implement court orders to promote a technical official of the medical facility.  The bench of Justice Irshad Qaiser and Justice Syed Afsar Shah was hearing a contempt of court petition filed by medical technician Amanullah through his lawyer.

The bench was told the petitioner had been appointed in the pathology department of Khyber Teaching Hospital as a medical technician.

“Recently, the hospital administration upgraded medical technicians from Grade-12 to 17,” the counsel said. He added others were promoted to senior medical technicians, but the applicant was ignored.

Amanullah’s lawyer went on to say a writ was filed at the PHC for his promotion and a division bench directed the hospital administration to promote him like the others. The lawyer said court orders were yet to be implemented which was tantamount to contempt. The bench, after hearing the arguments, issued a contempt of court notice to the respondents and sought replies by the next date of hearing.
