“Confronted with multifarious challenges in diverse terrain, Pakistan Army has to be in the best physical and mental fitness for a robust and prompt response," Gen Raheel said during his visit to Pabbi tehsil in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa at the concluding ceremony of Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) competition, said the ISPR.
"Add to this the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism, it makes us the most formidable force in the face of any adversity."

Speaking on the occasion, the COAS highlighted the importance of physical fitness and spirit of team work.
The team spirit matches were held in mountainous terrain near Mangla from March 31 to April 4. Apart from teams from all the Corps of the Pakistan Army, a team of Sri Lankan Army also participated in the competition.
“Sixteen officers from six countries including China, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan and Maldives also came to attend the competition as observers,” said the communique, adding, “Team spirit competition was aimed at testing survival skills and physical endurance spread over 72 hours which included 23 field events.”

The army chief awarded medals and prizes to the winners of the competition in which a very intense set of physical activities in the shortest time test the physical limits of the participants.
Mangla Corps team won gold medal being winner of the championship while Southern Command and Sri Lankan team shared the silver medal.
