Domestic violence: ‘Drunkard’ father beaten to death

A father of 10 children was known in the neighbourhood for getting drunk every night

A man was beaten to death by his son, police said on Saturday.


According to an FIR registered in Iqbalabad police station, Mukhtar Ahmed, a resident of Basti Ghulam Hussain, returned home drunk on Friday night and began beating his wife following an argument. The FIR said Ahmed’s 17-year-old son tried to stop him and eventually beat him to death.

SHO Faqeer Hussain said neighbours had told police that Ahmad, a father of 10 children was known in the neighbourhood for getting drunk every night and beating his wife and children.

Hussain said a team had arrested his son.

Man kills wife

Separately, a man strangled his wife near Derwar police station on Saturday.

Police said Allah Ditta, a resident of Chak 83/DNB, had married his wife Basheeran Bibi 40 years ago. He said the couple had 10 children. They said the couple quarrelled over domestic issues and Allah Ditta sometimes beat her.

They said he had strangled his wife following another argument on Friday night and fled. Police said an FIR had been registered and the body had been moved to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
