Expressing his concerns: Waqar meets IPC minister Riaz Pirzada
Head coach details problems in Pakistan cricket but wanted to meet PM Nawaz
KARACHI:
Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis could not get his wish of meeting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Patron Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but did meet Inter Provincial Coordination Sports Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada and shared the problems Pakistan cricket is facing.
Waqar has been publicly vocal against the PCB after his confidential report was leaked, while he was also furious after he found out that he will be shown the door before his contract ends after the tour of England.
The former captain wanted the PCB to run down his contract and allow him to leave with grace, but the board is in no mood to extend his stay with the national team and wants to immediately move forward with a different team management.
Furious Waqar blasts PCB for leaking confidential report
“I’ve talked about all the problems in Pakistan cricket, while also expressing my reservations to him,” said Waqar, while addressing media in Islamabad, adding that he has discussed a confidential matter with the minister as well.
On the other hand, Pirzada said that he has heard Waqar’s case and will forward his own report to the prime minister.
Waqar Younis apologises for World T20 performance
“We’ll send a report to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Patron is himself a keen lover of cricket,” said Pirzada. “I would personally request him to meet Waqar and other top PCB officials so that we can solve these problems in cricket together.”
