Accused of murder: Nephew of slain ISI director arrested in city

The CTD on Thursday arrested the nephew of slain former ISI regional director Abdul Latif on charges of killing his uncle.


Talking to The Express Tribune, a CTD official said, “The boy joined a banned outfit in 2009 and planned to kill his uncle with the help of accomplices.” He said the plan was chalked out in Hayatabad.

“Haris Naseem, alias Khalid, was arrested from Hayatabad and during interrogation, revealed the names of his aides and accomplices,” the official said. He added CTD was trying to arrest them.


Latif was the director of ISI in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and had retired in 2013. He joined Qurtaba University and was in the process of joining a university in Afghanistan.

Former army officer shot dead outside his house

Last month, Abdul Latif was in Phase 7, Hayatabad to meet his relatives when assailants on a motorcycle had shot him dead.

During his career, Latif had served on key positions, including as the first secretary in Pakistan’s embassy in Afghanistan in the 90s, he added.
