GIKI: Alternative energy conference to be held

SWABI: The three-day International Conference on Next Generation Energy Technologies (ICONGET 2016) will start at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) on Friday.

The conference will be organized by GIKI and South Dakota State University (SUSU). Briefing the media about the event on Thursday, Professor Dr Muhammad Hassan Sayyad said about 250 distinguished scholars from leading universities of Pakistan would be participating in the moot. Those from other countries will also be a part of the event through video conferencing, he added.

Sayyad said the aim of the conference was to bring scientists, engineers and technologists together to discuss and review environmental friendly, next generation energy technologies, industrial opportunities and energy conservation systems. “Pakistan is a developing country that has suffered a severe energy deficiency over the last few years,” he said. “No doubt, the need for alternative energy grows. The price of power and its demand has been increasing with the passage of time,” Sayyad said.

The conference will provide an opportunity to young researchers to interact with scholars.
