“These individuals were conducting hiring for the police and appointed people directly on the posts of Assistant Superintendent of Police,” said an official.
Muhammad Iftikhar, a resident of Jhelum and Kifayatullah, resident of Miranshah, presented themselves as people with links to the higher quarters in the establishment division and police.
They trapped people for huge sums of money, assuring them of jobs at good posts in the police department. The two suspects had prepared fake letters and official stamps to be used in the fraudulent business.
After receiving multiple complaints of identical nature against the suspects, the Aabpara Police constituted a team for their arrest. “The suspects were continuously changing places. They were using the hotel rooms they were staying in as their contact places for their clients,” said a police official.
He said the suspects were arrested red-handed with the help of one of their clients from whom they had demanded over Rs1.5 million for a job in police. They had called him to a place for delivering money and getting his appointment letter.
A police party raided the place soon after the client delivered the money and marked the notes. The two fraudsters were arrested and the police impounded two laptops, three cell phones and a jamming device which was recovered from the place.
Cases were registered against the suspects and further investigations are underway.
