Police on Wednesday resorted to baton charge and water cannons to disperse teachers protesting against non-payment of salaries in Karachi.

According to Express News, a group of teachers staging protest were approaching the Chief Minister House when the police intervened.

While police claimed to have arrested at least five teachers, several of them were also injured.

In December last year, more than 100 teachers protested and blocked the road near Sindh Secretariat, demanding the release of their salaries, due for a year.

“I was appointed along with 750 teachers after we cleared our tests in 2012,” said a protesting teacher, who, along with other demonstrators, claimed they received their appointment letters in October 2014 and joined as Junior School Teachers in various schools across the city but were due to receive their pay cheques.

Moderate Pakistani | 8 years ago | Reply What a useless govt? They give in to these mullahs supporting a convicted murderer who caused severe destruction to property worth billions in Islamabad but on the other hand they use full force on teachers peacefully asking for their due right. Where is the justice system?? why are we promoting terrorism and discouraging education ??
Last Man Alive | 8 years ago | Reply These teachers were trying to reach the Corruption Minister House thus they were severely thrashed and dispersed however few dozens of thugs have been occupying the Numaish roundabout with impunity and nothings' being done because they are causing hardships to people of Karachi whom these corrupt rulers from interior sind take as the slaves in their occupied colony.
