Crime, accident: Rikshaw driver killed; body found in Gujar Khan
Five passengers, who were travelling in the rickshaw, were injured while the truck (XA-576) driver fled the scene.
GUJAR KHAN:
A rickshaw driver was killed and five others were injured in a road accident while the body of a kidnapped man was found in Gujar Khan on Monday.
In the first incident, a rickshaw and a truck collided in the New Behgam area of Gujar Khan, resulting in the death of the rickshaw driver identified as Mirza Junaid, a resident of Dhoke Mirza Abad.
Five passengers, who were travelling in the rickshaw, were injured while the truck (XA-576) driver fled the scene.
The victims’ families staged a sit-in on the GT Road against the Rescue 1122 officials for reached the site late. The protest resulted in blockade of traffic for almost half-an-hour before it was cleared by the police and the local administration. The body of the rickshaw driver and the injured were shifted to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the local police found the body of a man from a local dam. According to the police, the man identified as Panu Khan, 70, a resident of village Hardosarki, was kidnapped three months ago over a land dispute. The police claimed that they had taken three suspects, Mehboob, Faisal and Jameel, into custody.
According to the police, the suspects had confessed to killing the aged man before throwing his body into the dam. On the disclosure of the suspects, the police along with a Rescue 1122 team fished out the body from deep water as a heavy stone had been fastened to the sack the body had been wrapped in.
