Improving performance: Sindh IG forms committee to audit camera surveillance system

Committee to submit progress report within a fortnight

KARACHI: A five-member committee was formed on Monday to conduct an operational audit of the police's camera surveillance system.

Sindh IG Allah Dino Khwaja constituted the committee during a meeting at the Central Police Office and reviewed the functioning and progress of completed and ongoing projects related to e-policing, said a press statement issued by Sindh Police.

The members of this committee include the DIGs of the finance, and technical and transport departments, the AIGs of security and logistics departments and the IT director. These members will submit their progress report within a fortnight, said the statement.

Security AIG Maqsood Ahmad Memon proposed the operational audit to make the camera surveillance system more effective, viable and sustainable. His idea was endorsed by other participants and eventually led to the formation of the committee.

IG Khwaja was given a briefing on the different components of e-policing project including Police Helpline 'Madadgar 15' with GIS vehicle tracking system, Traffic Management System, E-Driving Licenee with Violation Management System and FM Radio.

After reviewing the functions of these components, IG Khwaja formed a separate committee with finance and headquarters DIGs, security AIG and the IT director to conduct an in-depth study and improve e-policing.

The IG also invited details on the progress of the Criminal Record Management System, Case Flow Management System and Human Resource Management System. He directed to accelerate the pace of work on these IT projects and complete them within the proposed time frame.
