Smuggling bid : Customs seizes 328 mobile phones

A case has been registered against the two suspects while further investigation is under way

KARACHI: The Customs authorities foiled a bid to smuggle mobile phones worth millions of rupees at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Monday. Pakistan Customs staff posted at the international arrivals section arrested two incoming Pakistani passengers for allegedly smuggling items into the country. Customs Arrivals Deputy Collector Amjad Aman Leghari said the passengers, identified as Arshad and Shariq, had arrived from Dubai by an Emirates flight. The official claimed to have recovered 328 mobile phones worth Rs3.4 million from them, which were concealed inside an LCD TV set. A case has been registered against the two suspects while further investigation is under way.
