LAHORE:
Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Sunday urged the youth to play their role for progress and development in the country by excelling in the fields of science and technology.
Addressing a meeting of Narowal-Narang community at Cosmopolitan Club in Lawrence Gardens, he said the government was supporting the youth through a number of scholarships.
He said a COMSAT university would be established near Narang Manadi which would facilitate youth of the area access science and technology education.
He assured members of the community that their area would benefit from the projects planned under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Tanveer said transportation and communication systems played an important role in the development.
He urged Pakistan Railways to restore train services in Lahore-Narowal-Sialkot, saying this was needed by the people of the area.
He thanked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for approving the Shahdara Flyover.
“This multipurpose flyover project will help end traffic congestion there,” he said.
Earlier, the community workers gave a presentation regarding the issues of the area.
