PESHAWAR:

Water supply was cut off to thousands of residents in Gulberg and Gulabad No 2 in the city after Peshawar Electricity Company (Pesco) disconnected electricity to a tubewell on Thursday morning.

An official of PESCO Gulberg Division told The Express Tribune this step was taken because residents had failed to pay electricity bills which amounted to Rs7.7 million.

According to the official, several notices had been issued to the Town-III administration as well as its residents to clear the dues. However, they received no response from them.

After water supply was disconnected, residents contacted MPA Arif Yousaf, district councillor Saeed Zahir and others. Zahir said they will approach the administration of Town-III to pay the electricity bills.

Said Jamal and Haji Noorul Bashar, residents of the areas, said they had already made frequent requests in this direction.
