PESHAWAR: A search operation for four labourers stuck under the rubble of a building which collapsed in Nothia, Peshawar on Thursday is still on-going.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Faizi, two of the injured were rescued from the rubble with the help of heavy machinery. However, two more remain to be rescued.

"The building was being constructed. We have got some signals from under the rubble and heavy machinery is being used to clear the area," Faizi said.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast widespread rain, thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) across K-P from Thursday to Saturday.

The rain spell may cause land sliding and flash floods in lower areas of Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan and Mansehra.

“The PDMA has directed all district administration for necessary arrangements,” Latifur Rehman, spokesperson Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), said in a statement.

On Thursday, the PDMA also began a campaign across the province for people to check the condition of their roofs before the new spell of rains hit the province.

In the last two weeks, at least 46 people have died in incidents related to rain in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
