Police claim to have recovered two abducted fish vendors from the captivity of two kidnappers after taking them into custody on Wednesday, while the anti-car lifting cell arrested two criminals during a raid in Garden.

The two fish vendors, Shamsul Haq alias Shamsu and his father-in-law, Noorul Haq, were kidnapped from Korangi Industrial Area on March 14. Later on, the kidnappers demanded Rs150,000 as ransom from their family and also warned them of dire consequences if the family informed the police.

However, the family approached the New Town police for help. DSP Nasir Lodhi said that Rs30,000 was finalised as ransom between the family and the kidnappers. He added that the police arrested the kidnappers, identified as Waseem and Abbas, when they arrived near Civic Centre to collect the first instalment of the ransom money that was Rs15,000 and later on recovered the abducted persons from Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Police officials claimed that Sharae Faisal police station ASI Akbar was also involved in the kidnapping and the police were looking for him. A case was registered and further investigation is under way.
