KARACHI:

A bushfire erupted on Wednesday afternoon near Korangi Expressway in Karachi.

Volunteers from different welfare associations, including Edhi Foundation and Chhipa Welfare, reached the site to extinguish the fire. No casualties were reported, while the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.

The heavy smoke of the fire was seen kilometers away. The fire continued for hours but the fire department was unaware about it.

"We had no information about a fire as no one approached us," said the fire brigade department spokesperson talking to The Express Tribune. The fire was later extinguished by the residents living nearby.

An extra contingent of the law enforcers also reached the site. Korangi Industrial Area SHO Abdul Rasool Siyal said that the fire erupted accidently and no criminal act was found, adding that the residents themselves extinguished the fire.
