Akshay Kumar to play scientist in Rajnikanth’s ‘2.0’

NEW DELHI: It seems like there is literally no role that Akshay Kumar cannot do. Up next, the Bollywood superstar will be taking on the character of an eccentric scientist in the Rajnikanth starrer 2.o. The sci-fi action thriller is currently being shot and will mark Kumar’s debut in Tamil cinema. “Akshay plays a scientist named Richard who, after an experiment goes wrong, turns crazy and loses his appearance. He has undergone a complete makeover for this role,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

On Wednesday, a photograph of the actor sporting his scientist avatar was leaked online — much to the astonishment of the 2.o’s crew. The image had been snapped at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Indian capital, where the crew is currently shooting an important football sequence for the film. “The Delhi schedule will be wrapped up in the next two weeks,” added the source. “The team will next head to Morocco for another long schedule and will shoot important portions of the film there.” Rajnikanth, however, is yet to join the Delhi schedule. “He is expected to join the sets from March 30. Akshay has major portion to be shot in the Delhi schedule,” the source said.

2.o is being directed by S Shankar and also stars British actor Amy Jackson, who previously worked with Kumar in last year’s Singh is Bliing.
