LONDON: Not one to divulge much about his personal life, Chris Martin has – for once – spoken about his divorce from actor Gwyneth Paltrow, admitting he suffered “a year of depression” thereafter. The British singer separated from Paltrow back in 2014, after nearly 10 years of marriage. The former couple has a 15-year-old daughter Apple and nine-year-old son named Moses together.

Speaking about the split for the first time, Martin explained the entire process was “weird,” reported mirror.co.uk. “It is always out there in the media but I have had a very wonderful separation-divorce,” shared the Paradise singer. “I have lived a lot since then. It is a divorce but a weird one at that,” he was quoted as saying.

Soon after the split, the 39-year-old Martin and 43- year-old Paltrow decided to focus more on their family, instead of diving into the blame game. “You can come at it very aggressively and blame and blame. Or you can put yourself in the garage, so to speak,” Martin claimed. “Take yourself apart and clean of the bits and then, reassemble,” he added, sharing that he read a lot of literature to get through the tough times. Some of Coldplay’s recent tracks, including the hit Everglow, are rumoured to reflect how Martin was feeling during the divorce proceedings.
