Rs0.8m, computers stolen in Hangu

The authorities have previously failed to stop several robberies in the area of the bank

An employee of a mobile service provider franchise was robbed at gunpoint of Rs0.8 million in Hangu on Tuesday. In a separate incident, computers and official documents were stolen from a joint village council office in Ganjano Kalay, Hangu.


The manager of the mobile store told the police an employee was on his way to a bank to transfer Rs0.8 million to the company’s head office when he was attacked by two unidentified men on bikes. The masked men were armed and managed to get away with the money.

The authorities have previously failed to stop several robberies in the area of the bank, which is located in the jurisdiction of City police station.

Separately, computers and official documents were stolen from a joint office of four village councils in Ganjano Kalay, Hangu. However a suspect, identified as Hakeem Ali, was arrested hours later. The chairperson of one of the village councils, Noor Saif, said the police had clearly failed to protect their offices.
