PESHAWAR: The provincial health department decided to hire the services of a law firm to pursue and dispose of cases pending in various courts in a speedy manner.

This was stated in a handout issued on Sunday. The decision was taken during a meeting held in the city which was  chaired by Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai.

“However, the proposal to this effect will soon be sent for approval to the [relevant] authority,” read the handout.

During the meeting, various issues impeding the smooth flow of operational matters in the health department were discussed.

A number of important decisions were taken to deal with problems faced by the department. Various mechanisms were implemented to streamline activities.

“These include an e-office initiative supplemented by online file tracking system at the secretariat level,” the handout stated. “An e-complaints and redressal and disease surveillance system along with an online inventory for medicines and equipment is also on the cards.”

It added, “Biometric attendance will be extended to the grass-roots level. The department’s website will be redesigned to ensure proactive disclosure of information under the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Act 2013.”

Streamlining activities

“In order to develop a proper communication strategy for the department, the participants also decided to include additional indicators in the district health information system and independent monitoring unit,” the document said. “This will ensure factual and relevant data is shared with decision makers in a timely manner.”

During the moot, plans were made to strengthen the integrated health care programme. “A tracking chip system will be installed in department vehicles to avoid misuse,” stated the document.
