HANGU: Paramedics protested outside hospitals across Hangu district on Saturday over the non-payment of allowances by the K-P government. As a result, patients were left in the lurch and found it difficult to obtain treatment. While speaking to The Express Tribune, district president of the paramedics association, Haji Luqman Gul Orakzai, said, “We are aware of the patients’ sufferings but the government has compelled us to go on strike.” He added, “On February 2, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak announced that the demands of the paramedics association will be fulfilled in a week.” However, their demands have not been addressed. “The government is playing with our sentiments,” he said. “Although we understand patients are suffering because of the strike, our rights are important to us as well.”
