Another Encounter: Police kill two suspected criminals

KARACHI: Two suspected drug peddlers were killed while four other suspected criminals were arrested during an exchange of fire with the police in PIB Colony on Friday evening. Police officials said the encounter took place when they conducted a raid at a suspected narcotics den run allegedly by Khair Muhammad alias Khairo at Tarbooz Ground near Old Sabzi Mandi within the limits of PIB Colony police station. DSP Nasir Lodhi said the criminals resorted to indiscriminate fire at the police, and in retaliation, the police fired back and killed two suspects. The officer said the police also arrested four suspects including two in an injured condition. The bodies and the injured suspects were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsies and medical treatment under police custody. Police also claim to have recovered ball bombs, narcotics and arms and ammunition. Cases were registered against the suspects and further investigation is under way.
