The police have arrested a man for murdering his grandmother, whose body was found on February 25.
This was announced by District South DIG Dr Jamil during a press conference on Thursday.
Man pardoned for killing mother, kills two sisters
Selena, 70, was found dead with her husband, Khursheed Alam Hayat, critically injured inside their house on the seventh floor of a residential complex on Dr Daud Pota Road.
According to the police, they received a call from the victims' relative and neighbour, Asif, about the mysterious disappearance of the couple for the last two days. He informed the police that the couple's flat was locked from outside and they were not even attending the calls on their cell phones.
The police broke into the house and found Selena dead in her room, while Hayat was lying unconscious in another room. The injured was taken to Jinnah hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, the police found some clues which suggested that the incident could be an inside job. Collecting the leads, the police took into custody the couple's grandson, identified as Naeem Pervez alias Babu, who later confessed to the crime.

Pervez and his accomplice, Edrick Khurram, went to visit his grandparents on February 23, said Dr Jamil. Selena opened the door and as they entered Khurram overpowered her while Pervez hit her in head with an iron lock multiple times until she was dead, he added. Later, the suspects hit Hayat in the same manner and as he fell onto the ground they thought of him as dead, he claimed. The suspects then robbed jewelry, cash, laptop and phones, and locked the house from outside. The case was registered on the complaint of the couple's son.
