Cricket: PCB to grade umpires differently

Revamped grading policy for Pakistan umpires as country’s cricketing board attempts to enhance its domestic structure.

KARACHI:
There will now be a revamped grading policy for Pakistan umpires as the country’s cricketing board attempts to enhance its domestic structure. The move comes after complaints by officials of poor umpiring in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.

“The umpiring was not up to the mark, but we’ve already enforced a system where the umpires who were getting bad reports are having their number of matches cut,” said Sultan Rana, head of PCB domestic operations.

The final of the tournament saw a series of player protests against umpires and the match referee imposing fines for misconduct, and ball tampering.
