PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court accepted a petition filed on Tuesday by the parents of Army Public School victims, demanding authorities make the enquiry report public. The court issued notices to the federal and provincial governments and sought reply from them.

The bench, comprising PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel and Justice Younis Taheem, was hearing the petition filed by the parents of APS victims through their lawyer Naveed Akhtar. Lawyers present at the court room stood in solidarity when parents of the deceased entered.

When the hearing commenced, the bench directed Deputy Attorney General Musarratullah and Additional Advocate General Muhammad Sohail to provide the complete record in the next hearing. The bench asked Musarratullah and Sohail to update the court regarding progress in the case.

On March 3, father of APS victim Asfand Khan, Advocate Ajun Khan, filed a petition at the high court, seeking an order which would instruct the government to reveal whether culprits involved in the Army Public School massacre have been identified. The petition asked that the court order the authorities to make the information public. Later, more parents joined the petition, seeking information and progress reports on the investigation into the December 16, 2014 massacre.
