Army chief confirms death sentences of 13 terrorists, including Nanga Parbat attacker

Convicts also involved in destruction of schools and attacks on LEAs, says ISPR

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif confirmed on Tuesday death sentences of 13 'hardcore militants', including one involved in the killing foreign tourists  in Nanga Parbat.

According to the ISPR, the condemned terrorists were tried by military courts for their involvement in Nanga Parbat attack, Saidu Sharif airport, destruction of schools, attacks on armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians.

Earlier on January 1, the army chief had confirmed death sentences for nine terrorists convicted by military courts.



ISPR shared following details about the convicts:

Irfanullah S/O Khudayar

The convict was an active member of the TTP, and was involved in killing of 10 foreign tourists near Nanga Parbat Base Camp. He was also in possession of fire arms and admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on three charges.

Mushtaq Ahmed S/O Muhammad Miraj

An active member of the TTP, this convict was involved in attacking Saidu Sharif airport, killing employees of the Metrological department and destruction of an educational institution, which resulted in death of civilians and injuries to soldiers. He was tried on six charges.

Muhammad Nawaz S/O Gul Muhammad

A member of TTP, Muhammad Nawaz was involved in attacking armed forces. A cache of arms and explosives was also recovered from his possession. He admitted his offences before the magistrate. He was tried on three charges.

Taj Gul S/O Sultan Zareen

This convict was involved in attacking LEAs, which resulted in death of police constables and levies personnel. Cache of arms and explosives was also recovered from him. He admitted his offences before the magistrate and hence was awarded the death sentence.

Asghar Khan S/O Azizur Rehman

Ahmed Ali S/O Bakhat Karam

Haroonur Rasheed S/O Mian Said Usman

These three convicts were active members of the banned TTP, and were involved in attacking armed forces, LEAs and destroying educational institutions. A huge amount of arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. The three admitted their offences before the magistrate. Asghar, Ahmed and Haroon were tried on six, three and seven charges respectively.

Bakhte Ameer S/O Ameer Zareen

The convict was tried on three charges and was involved in attacking army personnel. He admitted his offences before the court and was thus awarded the death sentence.

Aziz Khan S/O Ashber

An active member of the TTP, this convict was involved in destruction of communication system in Gulibagh, resulting in death and injuries to soldiers. A suicide jacket was also recovered from his possession. He was tried on three charges.

Fazale Ghaffar S/O Shehzada

The convict was an active member of the TTP, and was involved in assaulting armed forces. A suicide jacket was also recovered from his possession. He was tried on four charges and admitted to his offences before the court.

Asghar Khan S/O Ahmad Jan

This convict was involved in attacking LEAs and destroying educational institutions. He was tried on five charges.

Ikramullah S/O Habibullah

This convict was involved in attacking armed forces and causing damage to army’s helicopters. He was also found carrying explosives. He was tried on four charges and admitted to his offences before the court.

Haider S/O Daim Khan

This convict was involved in killing civilians in Quetta city, and was in possession of fire arms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the trial court. He was tried on five charges and thus awarded death sentence.
