IHC dismisses petition seeking end to Qadri's trial

Islamabad High Court dismisses petition, states no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking to end the trial of Malik Mumtaz Qadri, the assassin of former Governor of Punjab Salmaan Taseer.

Express 24/7 correspondent Sabur Ali reported that the petition filed by Advocate Zafar Awan read that Pakistani law states that capital punishment will be handed to those who blaspheme and it is under this law that Qadri’s trial should not continue.

The court rejected the petition stating that even if someone has blasphemed, no one is allowed to take the law into their own hand.

A second petition asking to cancel the First Information Report (FIR) against Qadri was also rejected by the court.

The hearing for the case of the former governor’s assassination will be heard in-camera at Adiyala Jail on January 24.

Wasting the time of the court. Inshallah this barbarian will be found guilty and sentenced according to the law for cold blooded premeditated murder!
