FAISALABAD: The Education Department has started a school enrolment drive in Faisalabad district. “We are trying to persuade parents to get their children enrolled in schools,” a spokesperson for the department said on Monday.  He said the drive had been launched on a special directive of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. “We are working to ensure that every resident of the province is literate.” Officials of the department will make regular announcements regarding the benefits of education at local mosques. The spokesperson said that education officials will also hold meetings with parents and community elders in lower class and lower-middle class areas in Faisalabad. Officials working in the campaign have been given a target to enrol 100,000 children in educational institutes in this campaign. They have been told to meet the target by April 1.
