Hafiz Ahsan Khokhar, senior adviser and grievance commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis to Federal Ombudsman M Salman Faroqui, said directions had been given to all federal departments to begin processing cases of employees six months prior to the date of their retirement.
Khokhar added the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) will finalise all pension cases within 30 days with respective agencies, and continue to do so on a monthly basis. According to the grievance commissioner, the AGPR in its implementation report had stated that there were no cases of pension of any federal government employee beyond 30 days pending with them.
Khokher said that in line with federal ombudsman’s directives, all departments have complied with the secretariat for appointment of focal persons, a BPS-20 officer, with the concerned ministry or department dealing with pensions. He added that this information has also been uploaded to their website, along with the contact numbers of these focal persons from every ministry, division and department.
The grievance commissioner also said the ombudsman’s independent pensioner cell has been established to deal with issues of pension cases, and for complaints of federal employees, and have been directed to reply to correspondence on pension issues with the AGPR via focal persons within 48 hours.
He said all departments are following the ombudsman’s directives after a template illustrating the flow and activity of every pension case was shared by the AGPR.
Khokher added that further directions had been issued by Faroqui for an automated system for processing pension cases with the help of AGPR or PIFRA or CGA for early settlement.
