At least nine people were killed in Balochistan over the last 48 hours as heavy rain continued to lash parts of the province.


The latest spell of rain caused havoc, disrupting life and damaging property across the province. The Meteorological office has predicted heavy downpours in Quetta, Zhob, Sibi, Naseerabad with heavy thunderstorms.

Flash floods wreaked havoc in the Pak-Afghan border town of Chaman where rainwater swept away more than 100 houses, leaving many people homeless.

At least 9 people lost their lives in Sherani, Mastung and Dalbandin area in rain-linked incidents.

The roof of a house collapsed in Sherani district where a woman and four children were buried under the debris. Around 8 makeshift homes were washed away in Naushki, sweeping away all household items.

FC rescue teams rushed to the affected areas in Naushki and rescued the affectees in Ghareebad, Hameed Colony, Killi Qadirabad, Killi Gaznali, Essa Chah, Kili Janu Khan Dak where mud houses have fallen in large numbers.

The flash floods have also inflicted huge losses upon the growers, washing away tracts of crop land.

brar | 8 years ago | Reply Sorry for loss of human lives and property but the Govt must make arrangements to arrest the rain water so that the same may be used later on for drinking and growing crops. Did it rained in Gwader too because the area is suffering due to shortage of water.
syed & syed | 8 years ago | Reply Torrential rains is yearly feature but no one took advantage of this Rehamt-e-Allah. Survey the water flow and make huge ponds to store water. Trees be planted around ponds and water can be used for agriculture and meat giving animals. I think Mr Zahri can do a lot
