Encounter: Three ‘militants’ killed in police shootout
The deceased were wanted in cases of terrorism and extortion
KARACHI:
Three suspected militants were killed during an alleged encounter with the law enforcers on Thursday. The suspects attacked a police check post near Northern Bypass and tried to escape. However, the law enforcers manning the check post remained unharmed and started chasing the alleged militants — three of whom were killed in the exchange of fire, while one suspect managed to escape. SITE police station SHO Asmatullah Marwat said that the armed militants belonged to the Bajauri group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and had attacked the law enforcers following the arrest of their comrade, identified as Kamran Bajauri, on Wednesday. The deceased were wanted in cases of terrorism and extortion. Two motorcycles and weapons were also seized.
