ISLAMABAD:

Acting President Raza Rabbani on Wednesday said that it is deplorable that the ruling elite are virtually above the law.

He cited the example of former president General retired Pervez Musharraf who was dodging the courts after violating Article 6 of the Constitution. Rabbani was addressing the book launch of Consistent Parliamentary Cord; The Fundamental Rights of the Citizens of Pakistan authored by Zafarullah Khan.

Rabbani giving his remarks as the President of Pakistan pointed out that all are not equal before law in this country. “Unfortunately, in Pakistan we work under a system which has five types of applicability of law. First set of rules are for the ruling elite and the next for civilian elite. The third category is for collaborators of the ruling elite; the fourth is for the rich and the powerful and fifth is for the ordinary citizens of Pakistan,” he said.

Rabbani pointed out that according to Constitution, all are equal before law and all deserve to be treated equally, but in reality equality before law is missing.

Kickass | 8 years ago | Reply But Rabani fails to mention his own Party's corrupt practices. His co chairman is an absconder and known money launderer!
