Convocation: Women’s role vital in nation building: minister

Tariq Fazal assures college admin of addressing shortage of faculty and transport issues.

ISLAMABAD: Women’s commitment and dedication as homemakers are commendable regardless of whether they pursue professional careers after receiving their degrees or not.

This was said by State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Tariq Fazal Chaudhry at the first convocation ceremony of the Federal Government College of Home Economics and Management Science at F-7/2 on Wednesday, said a press release.

The college awarded nine postgraduate and 69 graduate degrees while 31 students were given certificates in recognition of their exceptional academic performances.

Chaudhry advised students to have faith in their abilities and follow the guidance  of their teachers while moving towards their practical
fields.

He also pledged to resolve the issues of shortage of teachers and inadequate transportation facilities. He also announced that he would soon inaugurate the new building of the college, which is currently under construction.

An exhibition of innovations and artworks of the students was also held at the college. The minister appreciated the work on display and commended the efforts of teachers, students and parents.

Professor Samar Zafar, the principal of the college, said that once the home economics college moved into its own building, it would serve as a pivotal point for other similar professional courses for women.
