KARACHI:

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that after the restoration of law and order in Karachi, special emphasis is being laid on the revival and improved functioning of public sector health institutions.

This will ensure 100% utilisation of resources of health institutions which in turn would result in the provision of better healthcare for poor patients.

Khan was speaking during a visit to the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) on Sunday. Commissioner Asif Hyder Shah and other officials were present at the occasion.

The main problem of these hospitals is negligence and non-provision of funds due to which these institutions are not working according to their complete potential, he added.

Mentioning the directives during his last visit to ASH, the governor said improvement work has started, with a 15-20% progress. He hoped the hospital would be operating according to the directives within three months.
