A matter of ‘honour’: Woman strangled over karo-kari in Jacobabad

SUKKUR: A woman was strangled to death by her father and uncle over the pretext of karo-kari on Saturday in Ahmed Mian Soomro village situated within the limits of Saddar police, Jacobabad.

Nazar Muhammad Soomro suspected that his daughter, identified as Anwar Khatoon, was having illicit relations with somebody in the village.

When she was asleep at night, Nazar and his brother, Abdul Fatah, strangled her to death and fled. Later, Nazar surrendered himself to the area police and confessed to his crime.

A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.

Incident came in wake of reports from Lahore's Begum Pura, Shalimar area, where a man brutally tortured and critically injured his ex-wife.

Nazia was rushed to the Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital by her relatives with a broken nose and was said to be in critical condition, sources told The Express Tribune on Saturday.

Kashif had divorced Nazia a few days ago and she arrived with her brothers at her former husband’s house in Begum Pura, Shalimar where they indulged in a brawl with his family, sources claimed.

As a result, Nazia received several wounds and her nasal bone was broken after which she was rushed to the hospital in a precarious condition, they added.

Ali | 8 years ago | Reply Shameful act indeed. But we as a nation will turn a blind eye towards these disgusting acts. With recent events like child abuse sandals, increasing rape and then this unfortunately Pak is becoming an epicenter of grotesque activites.
