Unidentified: 18 booked for beating up civic body staff

The attackers also kept Tehsil Chowk blocked for traffic for a number of hours

The Chakwal Police registered a case against 18 persons for allegedly attacking and beating up local municipality staff on Sunday.


Enforcement Inspector Khawaja Zahid in a written complaint to the police said that he was loading various items removed from encroachments on hospital road, on to a trolley, when Muhammad Javed, Aaqib Javed and Bhola CD-wala and others attacked him, and other members of the staff.


Zahid said that the attackers stole the various items from their vehicles that they had confiscated from the encroachers.


He said that later the armed attackers barged into the assistant commissioner’s office and beat the staff up.


The attackers also kept Tehsil Chowk blocked for traffic for a number of hours.


Meanwhile, the Saddar Police registered a case against five staff members of the City Housing Scheme for allegedly threatening two public servants including a patwari.
