Civic problems: Residents demand repair of broken sewerage lines

The residents of Gujar Khan Housing Scheme-I have urged the provincial government to address the issue of broken sewerage lines in the area.

Due to sewage water that has accumulated on the roads, locals find it hard even to walk on the streets. Residents of the area fear that if the sewage water was not drained from the streets, it might lead to spread of dengue and other diseases.

The situation is especially worrisome, given the fact that a number of schools and hospitals are also located in the housing scheme. Residents also struggle as the street lights in the area do not function.

Local traders, businessmen and other residents have called upon Punjab’s chief minister to look into the issue.

They said that even if the municipality staff keep cleaning the streets it would not solve the problem. Residents said that the broken sewerage lines needed to be repaired and fixed.
