KARACHI:
With the failures of Pakistan’s batting line-up piling up, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has summoned junior selection committee chief Basit Ali to Lahore.

The former Test batsman, with 19 Test caps and 50 ODIs to his name is likely to be offered a batting consultant role for the upcoming World T20.

Basit is one of the most successful coaches around at the domestic level but hasn’t served at the highest level before. During his reign, departmental outfit SNGPL have won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on multiple occasions, including the latest 2015-16 edition.

The 45-year-old is expected to be added to the team management for the coveted tournament in India rather than replace anyone.

During his stay in Lahore, Basit is likely to meet PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan and chalk out a strategy to improve the approach of the WorldT20 squad.
